ARTWORK

Neoen, under its Sustainability Framework, has a commitment to create an artwork on all its projects with a capacity of over 50 MW. The artwork aims to celebrate renewable energy and local culture.

For Blyth Battery, when we undertook consultations in the local community in 2023, we discovered that the town has been wanting a mosaic celebrating their local life for a few years. We decided to deliver our artwork initiative by funding this community project.

Watch the video to learn how the Blyth Progress Association led this mosaic project with support from community volunteers who spent over 1,000 hours cutting tiles and connecting with each other.

About the Mosaic Design: By Michael (Mike) Tye
The mosaic is 10 meters long and 1.8 meters high. The design is based on five ‘boxes’ spaced equally along the length of the artwork. The boxes symbolise the individual battery units at Blyth Battery. Each box depicts an element of life in Blyth such as the two farmers in conversation in front of the Blyth Hall, a local game of netball, native birds and a game of bowls; all nestled in the context of the Blyth Plains.

Community Benefit-sharing Program

We believe in sharing the benefits of renewable energies with the communities we operate in.
